THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT: PART 1

May 31, 2026    Pastor Johnny Johnson

This powerful message challenges us to reconsider what we may have misunderstood about the spiritual gifts God has given His church. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 12-14, we discover that the gifts of the Holy Spirit—including prophecy, tongues, interpretation, healing, and miracles—are not relics of the past but vital supernatural tools for today's believers. The central truth is clear: these gifts have not passed away with the early apostles but remain essential for building up the body of Christ. We learn about three categories of gifts: revelation gifts that help us know something (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits), power gifts that do something (faith, healing, miracles), and vocal gifts that say something (prophecy, tongues, interpretation). The beautiful story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 illustrates how divine appointments happen when we're sensitive to the Spirit's leading. What's particularly transformative is understanding that these gifts operate through grace—unmerited favor we don't deserve but desperately need. When we desire, ask for, and receive these gifts with love as our foundation, we become vessels that reflect God's light to a world in desperate need of the supernatural.
